There aren’t too many things that get us as excited as a room makeover. From a new piece of art to a brand new rug to unique flea market finds, we’re always on the hunt for that perfect piece of decor to spruce up our space with. So, given our love for all things interiors, imagine our excitement when we were invited to take place in an interior design contest! Our friends at Loloi Rugs just released a brand new collection of rugs, and asked us to pick our favorite and style a room around it. Of course we said yes, and started looking throughLoloi’s new Anastasia collection immediately. It was seriously hard to choose a favorite. But after much deliberation, we landed on the beautiful blue and ivory rug that’s in the photo above, and got to work! Check out the photos below, and then read to the end to hear how you can vote for our room.
Before we get into the details of our room makeover, let’s give you a little more background on Loloi and their Anastasia collection. Loloi Rugs is a Dallas-based, family owned company that is known for their gorgeous original rug designs. They travel the world over 6 months a year to visit master artisans in search of new design possibilities. You can find Loloi’s beautiful rugs on sites like Wayfair and Rugs Direct, as well as retailers around the country.
The Anastasia Collection is inspired by vivid, high-end rugs in beautiful colors and patterns. When designing the collection, Loloi’s goal was to modernize the look and make it affordable. What you can’t tell from the photos is how soft the rug is… and also sturdy! The Anastasia collection was made from power loomed polypropylene and polyester, two of the most durable and stain resistant fibers on the market.
Now to the room makeover! Our editor Rachel was looking for a way to spruce up her living room, and the rug was the perfect place to start. The space is bright and airy, and had some elements that we knew we wanted to keep. She had neutral colored furniture, which looked great with the Anastasia rug we chose. However, the coffee table she had in the room was quite dark and heavy, so we did a little rearranging…
Rachel happened to have this pretty tiered glass coffee table in her home office, so we swapped that in and it worked perfectly. We wanted to add a few extra pops of blue (to match the rug), so we picked up some pillows from Loloi (yes, they make pillows too!). There’s something so effortlessly chic about mismatched pillows, so we went for a few different patterns and colors. We think they add a little something extra to this space.
When it comes to styling, our go-to’s are candles, coffee table books and fresh flowers. They’ll add some extra pops of color, offer some new textures, and leave a lovely aroma in the space. The combination of pink and blue is a classic one, so we opted for pink dahlias and white roses, which looked great with all of the blue tones in the rug and pillows.
Styling a coffee table is an art all it’s own (we’ll be blogging about that soon!). For this space, we wanted to keep the colors neutral, with pops of pink and blue, to match the décor.
And now for the contest! Loloi tapped eight of their favorite design bloggers (including us!) to create beautiful rooms, each one featuring a different Anastasia rug as the dramatic centerpiece. The blogger with the most votes by midnight on October 14th will receive $1000 towards a charity of their choice, which is pretty amazing, too. And our charity isChildren’s Hospital Los Angeles, which is a nonprofit institution that provides pediatric health care to more than 107,000 children each year in a setting designed just for their needs. It’s a pretty incredible place that is very near and dear to all of our hearts.
So, click HERE and vote! And make sure to share this post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. The more votes, the better chance we have of winning the prize for CHLA.
